Each state's status comes from what has actually happened there: a ban signed into law, an enforcement action, a bill that passed or failed. We re-check every state when a legislative session ends or a major enforcement action lands, and the verified date above changes when we do. Every page on this site that shows a state's status reads from the same data, so the checker, this page and our homepage always agree.
"No ban enacted" means the state has not passed a sweepstakes-casino ban. It is not a ruling that sweepstakes casinos are allowed there, and operators still set their own state lists, so check an operator's terms before you sign up.

Frequently asked questions
Which states ban sweepstakes casinos?
California, Connecticut, Indiana, Louisiana, Maine, Montana, New Jersey, New York and Tennessee have enacted bans that are in effect. Oklahoma's ban takes effect November 1, 2026. Operators have also pulled out of Idaho, Iowa, Michigan, Nevada and Washington.
Are sweepstakes casinos legal in my state?
Use the checker at the top of this page. It shows whether your state has banned sweepstakes casinos, taken enforcement action, or has a ban bill pending. Where no ban has been enacted, availability still depends on each operator's own state list.
Is any state likely to ban them next?
Ban bills are pending in Ohio and Washington, D.C., and Florida, Illinois and Minnesota have taken enforcement action without passing a ban. Several states where bills failed in 2026 can try again in their next session.
What happens to my account if my state bans sweepstakes casinos?
Operators close access for players in that state, usually on or before the ban's effective date. If you have a Sweeps Coin balance, check the operator's announcement for its redemption deadline and redeem before access closes.
